Michigan Referee Program / John Bieniewicz Memorial Scholarship

John Bieniewicz Memorial Scholarship

The John Bieniewicz Memorial Scholarship was established in honor of John Bieniewicz, a Michigan referee who was tragically killed on the field in 2014. Not only was John a referee, but also a husband, father, and coach. He performed all of these roles with passion, and inspired that same passion in others. Since its establishment in 2015, the John Bieniewicz Memorial Scholarship has been awarded to young referees that exemplify the same passion and dedication to refereeing that John promoted.

There will be 5 scholarships of $2,000 each granted to high school seniors who will be graduating in Spring 2024 to be used towards expenses in an accredited university, college, community college, junior college, trade, or vocational school.
